Thinking Land considers a moment taken in reflection on a familiar scene whilst walking by the river in my village. The stillness makes the water mirror flat and yet the smallest movement breathes life into it as water pools and lines drawn by the breeze are redirected. At intervals, sunlight illuminates the purest blue, aa guide towards intriguing layers below. Possibilities. This piece is framed in limed obeche

Mono screen print with water soluble pastel, wire and suspended mesh

This piece is one of a series that I made using mono screen print as the stimulus. Born of chance happenings, during the process I began to see a narrative of risk. Oddly the darkness did not feel like a sense of menace to me, in contrast there was something serene about it but the lure of the crimson seemed a place I wanted to be but would also take me out of my comfort zone. It might lead to satisfaction, achievement, joy or conversely disappointment, failure, embarrassment. I wondered if I would decide to take that leap of faith. The older I get the more I hope so.
